GO AQS Members Unite to Define the Future of Indoor Air Quality Index

Global Open Air Quality Standards (GO AQS) has taken a significant step towards establishing the world’s first common Indoor Air Quality Index (IAQI) by launching a comprehensive survey among its members. This initiative aims to consolidate breakpoints for the GO IAQS Index, a crucial tool for assessing and communicating indoor air quality consistently across the globe.

Recognizing the diverse expertise within its membership, GO AQS is actively seeking input to ensure the index is robust sound. The survey, distributed to all member organizations, solicits feedback on critical pollutant levels and their potential impact on health and well-being within indoor environments.

Members are urged to contribute their knowledge and insights by the deadline of Midnight CEST on June 15th, 2025. This timely participation will be instrumental in shaping the final framework of the GO IAQS Index.

Following the survey period, GO AQS will host a virtual meeting between June 17th and 20th to discuss the survey findings and collaboratively refine the breakpoints. This interactive session will provide a platform for members to engage in constructive dialogue and contribute to the finalization of this groundbreaking index.

The development of a common IAQI by GO AQS marks a pivotal moment in the pursuit of healthier indoor spaces worldwide. By establishing standardized metrics, the GO IAQS Index will empower individuals, businesses, and policymakers to make informed decisions and take effective actions to improve the air we breathe indoors. The active involvement of GO AQS members in this process underscores the collaborative spirit driving this important initiative. GO AQS is committed to a collaborative approach in developing this crucial tool. The survey aims to gather insights on key pollutants and their respective thresholds, ensuring the GO IAQS Index is both scientifically robust and practically applicable across various indoor environments.

The development of a standardized IAQ index marks a pivotal moment in the pursuit of healthier indoor spaces globally. By providing a clear and unified system for assessing indoor air quality, the GO IAQS Index will empower individuals, businesses, and policymakers to make informed decisions and take effective action to mitigate indoor air pollution.
