GO AQS, a body that has developed an open indoor air quality framework, today announced that its founder Sotirios Papathanasiou will participate as a speaker among Maria Neira, Ulla Haverinen-Shaughnessy, Oluyemi Toyinbo, and Georgia Lagoudas in an upcoming workshop at the Indoor Air 2026 conference in Singapore.

The workshop, titled “Do We Need Global IEQ Standards?,” will take place on 16 June 2026 from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM local Singapore time. The session is designed to examine whether global Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) standards are feasible, appropriate, or desirable given regional differences in exposure patterns, biological susceptibility, climate, building practices, and socioeconomic contexts.

Collaborating on Regional and Global IEQ Challenges

While IEQ standards are central to protecting public health and well-being, current frameworks vary widely across regions and are frequently adapted from outdoor environmental metrics. This workshop will bring together diverse perspectives from academia, professional societies, and policy leadership, including alternative and critical viewpoints, to foster an open dialogue on the harmonization of these standards.

As a contributor to the discussion, GO AQS will join fellow panelists to explore how open, adaptable frameworks can help navigate these complex challenges. The conversation will focus on key objectives.
